Ikos Andalusia: Redefining Luxury All-Inclusive in Spain

Modern patio with pool, lounge chairs, dining table, and sea-view garden under trees

I have just returned from a wonderful educational trip to Ikos Andalusia in Málaga, Spain, and I could not wait to share the experience. From being collected at the airport in one of the resort's luxurious, air-conditioned minibuses to touring the resort and some of its most exclusive villas, sampling incredible cuisine and even trying our hand at cocktail making with the resort's mixologists in the nightclub, every moment showcased what makes Ikos so special. Yes, you read that correctly, there is a nightclub!

Attention to detail is exactly what Ikos does best. As a collection of luxury all-inclusive resorts across Greece and Spain, Ikos has built its reputation by completely rethinking what an all-inclusive holiday can be. The concept is simple, yet rarely delivered to such a high standard. Everything is included, but nothing feels standardised. The focus is on quality, flexibility and giving guests the freedom to enjoy both the resort and its surroundings without compromise.

One thing that immediately stood out was the sense of peace and tranquillity throughout the resort, despite it operating at around 90% occupancy. Even though I was there for work, I felt genuinely relaxed and carefree as I wandered along the lavender-lined pathways beside the two main swimming pools. Every detail has been thoughtfully considered, creating an atmosphere that feels effortlessly luxurious.

The staff deserve a special mention. Nothing was too much trouble, and they truly embodied exceptional hospitality. From the moment we stepped out of the Ikos minibus, we were warmly welcomed and looked after throughout our visit. There was always a member of the team on hand to answer questions, offer recommendations or simply make sure everything was running smoothly. Their professionalism, combined with their genuinely friendly personalities, made us feel completely at ease.

The journey from Málaga Airport takes just under an hour, which is enough time to watch the coastline unfold as everyday life gradually fades into holiday mode. Spanning 21 acres, the resort feels expansive without ever being overwhelming. Instead, it reveals itself gradually, leading naturally towards its beautiful 420-metre stretch of beach, where guests can relax, hire bicycles or take a pedalo out onto the water.

Sustainability is also clearly embedded within the Ikos philosophy. Its resorts are powered by 100% renewable electricity, with the group investing in energy-efficient systems, reducing single-use plastics and working to minimise the amount of waste sent to landfill.

Elegant Accommodation

The rooms follow the same design philosophy as the wider resort: clean, spacious and thoughtfully designed. During our visit, we toured several accommodation categories, including a Junior Suite with Pool View, the impressive Deluxe Two Bedroom Grand Penthouse Suite with Sea Front View and the ultra-luxurious Deluxe Four Bedroom Villa with Private Pool.

Floor-to-ceiling windows open onto private terraces, gardens or pools, creating the perfect setting to start the day with a coffee in hand. The interiors feel sophisticated yet understated, with soft finishes, natural tones and an abundance of light. Everything feels seamless and welcoming, perfectly reflecting the relaxed atmosphere of the resort itself.

For guests seeking an even more exclusive experience, the Deluxe Collection offers an elevated level of service and privacy. Benefits include a dedicated concierge, exclusive pool and beach areas, access to the additional restaurant Seasons, beachside dining experiences, two complimentary massages and two days' use of an electric MINI Countryman, which is a fantastic eco-conscious addition.

Exceptional Dining

The dining experience is, in my opinion, where Ikos truly separates itself from the competition.

There are no compromises. À la carte dining takes centre stage rather than the traditional buffet-focused all-inclusive offering, with premium local and international wines, spirits and cocktails included throughout the stay.

We enjoyed lunch at the Beach Club during one of the busiest periods of the day. Despite arriving as a group of eight, with around 70% of the tables occupied, we were seated immediately and the atmosphere remained calm and relaxed throughout the service.

To make the most of the menu, we ordered a selection of starters to share before choosing our own main courses and desserts. On our waiter's recommendation, I selected the Tuna Steak with Remoulade Sauce and Spice Tajin, followed by the Yoghurt Pavlova with Meringue and Mixed Berries. Every dish was exceptional and an easy 10 out of 10.

The setting only enhanced the experience. With the beach just moments away, beautiful gardens surrounding the restaurant and the distant sound of tennis being played nearby, it perfectly captured everything I did not know I needed from a luxury holiday.

Families are exceptionally well catered for too, with extensive children's and vegan menus available throughout the resort.

This outstanding standard of food and service continues across every dining venue, including:

• Fresco – Italian cuisine

• Anaya – Asian-inspired flavours

• Ouzo – Authentic Greek dishes

• Provence – Refined French cuisine

• Chiringuito – The stunning new beachfront restaurant

Each offers its own distinct character while maintaining the exceptional quality Ikos is known for.

Cocktails, Stories and a Perfect Finish

As if the day had not already been memorable enough, we were invited to take part in a private cocktail-making masterclass. Alongside showcasing our somewhat questionable cocktail-shaking techniques and estimated shot-pouring skills, we learnt about the fascinating stories behind the classic drinks we all know and love.

Did you know that the Dark 'n' Stormy originated in Bermuda in the late 19th century? British sailors and Royal Navy officers mixed ginger beer with locally produced rum. According to legend, one sailor remarked that the drink's cloudy appearance resembled a sky "only a fool or a dead man would sail under", inspiring the iconic name it still carries today.

Final Thoughts

A huge thank you to our wonderful partners at Ikos for inviting me to experience the beautiful Ikos Andalusia. We have always loved the Ikos brand for its exceptional service, thoughtful details and the genuine care it gives its guests, so it was wonderful to experience those qualities firsthand.

Ikos is renowned for its resorts across Corfu, Halkidiki and Kos, with further beautiful properties in Crete, Mallorca and Andalusia. Ikos Andalusia is especially appealing for anyone wanting to experience the brand a little closer to home, with a shorter flight to Spain and all the outstanding service, luxurious surroundings, exceptional dining and genuine attention to detail for which Ikos is known. Having now experienced it for myself, I can confidently say that it sets the benchmark for luxury all-inclusive holidays.

I cannot wait to return, and I would love to help you experience it too.
